Dirty Sanchez's report from Box Hill Golf Club
The day did not start well at the Dromana bakery as we loaded the loaves of bread into the car, collecting Rocket and his sausage roll (with sauce).. At the course there was a large contingent of over 20 elderly players were waiting on the tee, I then realized that is was actually our group. We are ageing, getting fat, developing huge cans (sorry Simmy) and still can’t hit the fucking ball straight! But I thought what a beautiful day to be playing golf, the course looked in great nick, there was plenty of fresh sea air and that same air was between my ball and my 3 wood as I swung lustily! Glad to provide some entertainment on the first..My game improved from then on and I racked up stableford points like the mighty Magpies in the second half of the 2011 GF :-) Yes I won the Naga and a lovely green shirt.
My playing partners consisted of Rocket Smith, Steven Hawkins & David “Mark McInnes” Jones. The later being the only man whose veins on his arms can be seen from the moon. This man has the potential to be one of the best & worst golfers that ever existed, he is Ying, he is Yang, he is a fruit cake..that has just a bit too much alcohol in it. Anyway back to the golf, there was some good golf played, just not in our group. Eeeeemo ripped it up and no-one got near him to take out the club championship and Wally Stone shield. Davey Beech yet again won the Beagle which is just as well because Gail is using the trophy as a chopping board again! Oops and Emo tied for the Beagle. Kudos to Wayne Alfred who decided that tournament director was a non playing role and he wandered the course offering token encouragement and really bad golfing advice. I don’t know who won all the NTP’s but I was ripped off on the longest drive because someone hit it only 30 meters further than mine and didn’t write their name on the card!!!
Most improved must go to Ricky the Dragon Steamboat who is BACK! After years in the golfing wilderness he smashed the ball like it was King Kong Bundy's head! Well done Quony that Beechworth air (and wine ) must be agreeing with you.
What was great to see was the 22 people that turned up for the day of Golf. Lets all get to Box Hill and this years Hackers, now that we have sacked the tournament director and Yarrawonga is the best of the border venues bar none!
See You Bums at Box Hill
