    2019 BLUE ACADEMY SAP PROGRAM

    The 2019 Blue Academy program will be overseen by BUFC Technical Director David Field. David is a UEFA A licensed coach with over 20 years’ experience in youth football development, including coaching roles at world famous English Premier League clubs Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

    What: At BUFC, we will be delivering the original SAP format and, throughout the season, slowly incorporating the new Game-Intervention-Game (GIG) methodology.

    The skill acquisition phase (SAP) is the ‘golden age’ of motor learning for players aged 9 to 12 years. In the skill acquisition phase, players will develop their four core skills of first touch, striking the ball, 1v1 and running with the ball.

    The Under 9–10s will play 7v7, while the Under 11–12s will be introduced to the 9v9 playing format during small sided games and will be introduced to the principles of play.

    The program will be overseen by 2019 BUFC Men’s Technical Director, David Field. All Blue Academy coaches will hold either a Football Federation Australia (FFA) coaching license, skill training certificate or gain them early in the season.

    Who: The Blue Academy program is aimed at junior players (boys and girls):
    • from Belnorth, Belsouth and Belwest*
    • in the Under 9 (born 2010), Under 10 (born 2009), Under 11 (born 2008) and Under 12 (born 2007) age groups;
    • who are interested in playing at the National Premier League (NPL) or Womens National Premier League (WPL) level in future.

    Where: Hawker Playing Fields, Murranji Street, Hawker.

    When: Mondays 6–7.15 pm during school terms 1, 2 and 3. The first session commences Monday, 11 February 2019.

    Cost: $195 per term (includes Blue Academy training jersey).
